Brian is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, with an MBA in International Business & Marketing. He has worked with SME’s as well as large corporate business units in leadership roles. He has an entrepreneurial attitude to seek out business opportunities and develop very successful delivery strategies. This was all achieved through an engaging style with clients, and colleagues to help focus everyone to mutual beneficial outcomes.
Brian has in-depth management experience in many engineering sectors as well as engineering services. During his 40 year career in industry Brian has overcome many challenges facing businesses from rapid growth, relocations, factory closures, developing complete management teams, greenfield new builds, off shoring, business turnarounds, etc . He has done so by always working with his colleagues to be clear about the challenges and agreed routes to overcome those challenges. Most recently this was by working with a new group acquisition to select and coach a management team to take a £3M turnover business to £8.5M in 3 years whilst improving the gross margin.
For the last 6 years Brian has been CEO of two UK groups of companies where he developed his consultative coaching style further to support and guide the various management teams and MDs of the group companies to refocus (sometimes restructure) to deliver long term profitable growth. In 2011, working as European MD for a USA Corporation, Brian had the opportunity to take his European sales team (20+ sales people) through a Sandler Training course. He personally gained great insights and continued to use much of the Sandler tools in his subsequent CEO roles. Brian has personally negotiated and closed many multi-year, high value contracts, often with large global OEMs.
When Brian was considering his next career step, he looked at a number of possible opportunities based in the North West. However, when he found out there was an opportunity to own and manage the Sandler North West region training centre he jumped at the chance. It enabled him to continue his coaching roles working with the small to medium size businesses in the North West utilising the powerful Sandler Training methodology. Post Covid the Northern Powerhouse industries will start to really drive the post Brexit local economy and having effective Sales teams who can generate and close new business will be key to the SME community.
North West Sandler training centre team will initially be based in central Manchester & Clitheroe, but through 2021 we will look to develop local client support opportunities once Covid permits. Much of the coaching and training is currently delivered on-line, not ideal, but a great way to sharpen your axe during these enforced home working periods.
